Review procedure

Tertium Linguistic Journal strictly enforces the double blind review policy. Every submitted article is first assessed by one of the Editors. If not desk-rejected for formal reasons, it is then assigned to the appropriate Section Editor, who assigns it to two reviewers collaborating with the journal. They could be members of the Editorial Board members or other reviewers specialising in the field that the article represents. In each of the cases, the policy of independence of the reviewers from the authors is followed, specifically authors and reviewers cannot be members of the same institution.

The reviewers are usually allowed 3-4 weeks for review, whereupon authors are asked to revise the articles according to the recommendations of reviewers and section editors within an agreed deadline, usually not more than 4-8 weeks. After the articles are revised and accepted by the Section Editor, they are sent in to the journal Editors, who assign them for desk-editing to one of the editorial assistants. They check the articles for compatibility with formal requirements of the journal, including the required template and details of the bibliographical style.

After the desk-editors have completed their work, the Editors assign the article to an issue. Before the publication, the final update of the author names and biography, article titles, abstracts and bibliographies is carried out by the author in collaboration with the Editor. Authors have the right to proofread the article before their final publication.

Reviewers assess every article on the following scale:

Accept for publication
• Accept with minor revisions
• Accept with major revisions
Revise and resubmit
• Reject and encourage submission to other journal
Reject

When reviewing an article, reviewers are guided by the following criteria: the originality and importance of research, clarity, methodology, conclusions, reference support and quality of English.

Reviewers receive a special template to complete their review.

In the first years of the journal existence, the Editors established and collaborated with the Board of Reviewers. Currently the list of reviewers in published annually following each year calendar.
